Overseas visit from Chinese academics.
06 August 2008In August 2008, Brinsworth Training Ltd was privileged to be selected to host six engineering academics and an interpreter from schools and colleges in Shaoxing, China. The purpose of their visit was to investigate the possibilities of delivering vocational training in China along the same lines as the UK.
The delegates were under the wing of their interpreter, an engineering student from Sheffield University, Raymond Lui. Three of the delegates were female teachers; Yue’er Zhang, Weihong Yang and Li Wei Ding, and they were accompanied by male colleagues Zhonghua Zhang, Xiaohai Mao and Jianhua Zhuo. All were met at Brinsworth training centre by the Director Mr Mick Cattell and after introductions they were started on a program of events that was to last two days.
Firstly they visited two local manufacturers, KP Nuts Ltd and Toyoda Ltd to see the processes used within their particular manufacturing environments and to see how they trained their staff. These visits were particularly useful and the delegates’ interest was demonstrated by the amount of questions they asked.
This was followed by a buffet lunch back at Brinsworth’s corporate conferencing facilities where the delegates met the managers, instructors and assessors who taught apprentices and commercial students at Brinsworth Training Ltd. There then followed a tour of all the facilities at Brinsworth given by Mr Alan Varney, and demonstrations of equipment and processes used to teach at the centre. It’s safe to say that the delegates were very impressed.
The second day started on a high note as the delegates were given expert technical demonstrations on PLCs, Motor Controls and other electrical wizardry as they were introduced to more teaching equipment used at Brinsworth.
After a buffet lunch, the afternoon went at a slower pace until the visit concluded with the delegates being presented with photographs of their visit and a memento each from the company.
