This course is involved in workshop fabrication in the oxy fuel gas cutting with practical sessions of approximately 75% demonstrations and hands-on sessions. This course is for all personnel engaged in or supervising oxy fuel gas cutting. You will learn the importance of oxy-fuel gas cutting process, health and safety, setting up equipment, lighting up and shutting procedure, basic cutting techniques - straight line, bevels, severing activities, plate and pipe, solid bar and you will develop awareness for all the hazards associated with the thermal press. You will be taught how to prevent spark and splatter when performing welds. In additional the course will provide underpinning knowledge for those pursuing NVQs and the CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).

• Health and safety
• Identification of compressed gas cylinders
• Cylinder handling and storage
• Component parts of oxy-fuel gas equipment
• Assembly and testing of oxy-fuel gas equipment
• Correct set-up of working gas pressure
• Correct flame ignition and shut down procedure
• Flame types and recognition
• Preparation of work area prior to operation of equipment
• Oxy-fuel cut: straight lines, curves, circles and bevel edges
• Recognition of common cutting faults

Qualification : All successful candidates upon completion will receive the Centre Certificate of Attendance in Oxy Fuel Gas Safety and Cutting identifying training covered

For Your Information : Brinsworth Training has the flexibility to facilitate your requirements as an organisation or individual Please bring pen and paper and wear/bring with you PPE (personal protective equipment) protective clothing, eye wear, gloves etc and steel toecap boots for the workshop activities. Brinsworth can supply if needed hats, gloves and glasses

This course is based at our main engineering training facility, located just off the M1 J34 in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. Ideally situated for access from Barnsley, Sheffield, Doncaster or Rotherham.
