- The regulations involved in the mounting and use of abrasive wheels
- An explanation of the nine classes of wheels
- Safe working practice when using or changing abrasive wheels
- Grinding wheel composition, classification and coding system
- Wheel balancing - (where required)
- Several practical exercises in wheel identification, changing wheels and adjusting work rests (to include portable grinders)
Qualification : All successful candidates upon completion will receive the Centre Certificate of Competence in Abrasive wheels identifying training covered

Brinsworth Academy of Engineering has the flexibility to facilitate your requirements as on organisation or individual Please bring pen and paper and wear/bring with you PPE (personal protective equipment) protective clothing, eye wear, gloves etc and steel toecap boots for the workshop activities. Brinsworth can supply if needed hats, gloves and glasses.

This course is based at our main engineering training facility, located just off the M1 J34 in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. Ideally situated for access from Barnsley, Sheffield, Doncaster or Rotherham.

This course is suitable for all operators, managers and supervisors, who, as part of their working duties select, mount, specify or use abrasive wheels. The aim of the course is to enable delegates to work safely, to ensure that safety issues are managed efficiently, protecting the workforce, and the general environment, ensure that legal compliance the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 98) and the HSE Publication "Safety in the Use of Abrasive Wheels" (HSG17) is achieved promoting awareness of the dangers and hazards of abrasive wheels, Brinsworth Training conduct on or off site training so the course can be tailored to your work place.
